Back Surgery

It was about a week ago now that I had surgery on my back. I had a herniated disc in my lower back and the surgery went really well. It is actually the recuperating that has been the hard part. Because of the surgery, I am not allowed to lift anything over 5-10 lbs, this includes my sweet little boy, who happens to weigh 20 lbs. My husband, mom, and sister have been a great help keeping my house in order and taking care of Colin, but I hate not being able to do anything, like simply picking up and snuggling my boy.

It makes me sad when I go in to see him in the morning, and he reaches his little arms out to me, and I have to step aside to let Keith pick him up. And, this isn't going to be just for a few weeks, I am not allowed to lift anything for 3 months! I am glad that I am still allowed to hold him on my lap when I am sitting down!

Ok, I feel like I am being super complainy and whiny, so let me focus on the good points. The pain in my lower back (besides the pain at the incision) has gone away and the feeling has mostly returned to my leg and foot! I also got to have my surgery right before spring break, so I've gotten to recoup during my vacation, which is so nice! Also, Colin is pulling up, almost walking, and crawling everywhere, so most of the time, I can get him where he needs to be just by encouraging him to crawl. It is fun to watch him scoot around the house. He is SO fast! I can tell that when he starts walking, I am going to have a lot of chasing to do!
