Thursday-Blog Day

I am sitting at my desk, stapling student essays, and thinking to myself, "man, there are a million other things I'd rather be doing right now!" Sooo, a short time out from stapling and grading to blog sounded like a good idea.

Its been a pretty alright day in the realm of teacherville. My English students are working on quilt squares to visually represent the poetic images that they have read in "Their Eyes Were Watching God" and my reading students are working in the lab today. All in all, not a too busy or teaching-heavy day. But, I still come out of it tired. Maybe it is the constant questions, "Mrs..do you have that graded yet?" or "Mrs...why did I get so and so or such and such?" or Mrs...are we really doing anything today??" or "Mrs...did I miss anything yesterday?" And on and on, you get the idea. It wears on a person.

So, every afternoon, during my 7th period planning, I try desperately hard to get the things graded so I won't have to hear the dreaded question again. But, day after day, I fail, because the piles on my desk somehow keep growing, like they have a life of their own, like somehow eating the paper clips and rubber bands out of my drawer has allowed them to get fatter... Sometimes, I regret my decision to become a teacher. No one tells you in school how much outside work you will have to do and that your days will often go beyond 7:30am-3:30pm...

I think I'll try to focus on more positive things...like, hum...what I will make for dinner tonight! Last night I made an awesome dinner of schnitzel and spatzle. It was a German delight. Everything came out perfectly. I think tonight I will shoot for something Italian. My husband loves pasta, so maybe some chicken fettuccini with garlic pesto sauce. Or, I could make something easy, like Skyline chilli 3 ways. Yum again!

I am so glad that it is Thursday! Only more day left with my monsters!
